Really insightful breakdown here. The sunk cost angle is somethng I've seen play out so many times in real debates. Once people invest years defending a position, admitting they were wrong feels like invalidating their entire past. I've noticed this especially with tech choices at work where swtiching platforms is objectively better, but teams resist because of prior investment.

Thank you for this post. I used to always wonder why people don't trust data even though it clearly disproves their false point.

Didn't think that the process of persuasion could be this laborious 😅

My problem is I find it very hard to hide my contempt for people with false, dangerous beliefs. Hence, my interlocutor never feels safe and they definitely know I’m not interested in relationship.
