I hope you like it, I really do. When I say it changed my life, I mean it. No film has ever made me change my habits and mindset before, but this one did.
You've done it again, Alvaro. Reading this makes me realize that, despite my "retired" life, I spend too much energy and time running the past and future worries through my mind. Experiences with people who no longer inhabit my existence fill my thoughts. I have to tell myself those people no longer have a place in my present. It's a ritual exorcism. On top of that, attending to my chores takes more ambition than I have. And my chores are ridiculously simple and take little time. For Pete's sake! Rading this article has shaken my resolve to stop wasting energy on these silly mental activities and just do my life. Be present every minute. It's just too easy to slip inside my head and waste the moments. Thank you, Alvaro.
I understand you perfectly, it happens to all of us. At the end of the day, it's a movie, so it's the ultimate representation of an idea. Becoming like the protagonist is almost impossible, but aligning ourselves more with them is perfectly possible and, I would say, necessary.
It frees up a lot of mental space and allows us to enjoy everyday life more without having to wait for something extraordinary to happen to be happy for a fleeting moment.
Hi JaCee, I'm glad you liked it. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I assure you that you'll enjoy it. It's really beautiful, regardless of whether or not it changes you on a personal level. It's a real pleasure to watch it.
I watched Perfect Days after reading this post, with my 5 and 7-year-old kids, and they were as mesmerized by it as I was, even though they couldn't read most of the subtitles. Now when we take night walks my daughter always challenges me to a game of shadow tag.
Plus, I've regained some of the appreciation for the ritual of cleaning my house. And I have a refreshed sense of what a good life looks like.
So many worthwhile ideas here, thank you. After your description, I really must see the movie. From one garden to another:
past, present, future
so much movement back and forth--
now is all there is
I hope you like it, I really do. When I say it changed my life, I mean it. No film has ever made me change my habits and mindset before, but this one did.
Hermoso!
¡Hola! :)
