Exactly, I was unaware of some of the ones you mentioned. Thank you for introducing me to them. I must say that, even though they exist, they are not applied. I have seen many people who still shout at each other over the slightest thing, so yes, it is worth learning and applying.
Absolutely. The trick is in the doing. AND it also needs to be introduced early in life. I came to these tools at the age of 40! I found these tools well researched and widely used, with clear and simple steps that I could follow to make my life better.
Good article. I listed all your points so I can remember them. Thank you. Also, restacking to Notes. Some of the people on Notes urge people to vilify and ignore the other side, identifying them as evil and their cases without merit. Not exactly a unifying mentality. I hope many will read this and reconsider their stands.
I'm glad you liked this text. It's a little-known but very effective technique. Many arguments end in shouting simply because people get irritated when they haven't let the other person speak and haven't clearly understood the other person's point of view.
This protocol solves all these problems at their root and ensures that the debate is an agreement between parties, similar to a business deal, I would say.
Hi Alvaro, I just hope it works in my MAGA world. While I trigger mindlessly over a lot of things, which is a mystery to me, I live in a world on old men who are always right dammit! They will repeat their cases, sometimes only one key word that sums up their argument, whether it makes sense or not. We're a cantankerous lot here in the Wild Westl but I will do my best to use these techniques and see how it works. Wish me luck.
Hahaha, I hope it works for you. I've tried this technique before, and although people give me a strange look at first, they later appreciate having followed this protocol.
There’s decades old, well established and researched processes for each of these steps for eg:
1. Active listening by Carl Rogers
2. Appreciative enquiry
3. Non violent communication
4. Influence without authority
