I love this. So glad Curro found a safe place to land. Indeed, it was your lovely garden that saved his life. Years ago, I found a baby king bird near my chicken coop. Feeding it meal worms for two weeks, it grow to the point where it was ready to fledge. I took it outside after testing its flight indoors. There w as an adult king bird paying attention to it as it squawked on a perch inside a cage i wanted to hold it in to acclimate it to the temperature outside. It was then I decided to open the cage and hope the adult would finish raising my little bird. It flew to a perch where I could take one last photo, then it flew to a nearby tree. For the next 24 hours, it cried for help. Drove me nuts like a mother knowing its child is in danger but can't help it. By morning, it had flown a full circle from tree to tree around the house. I went out to see it perched in a tree near the house. It looked down at me, then soared effortlessly across the expanse to the eave. Then it looked at me again as if to say, "If was rough, but I've got this now. Thanks, Mom." Haven't seen it since.
The story you told me touched me deeply. I was able to raise mine more easily and now it lives with me, but after making all the effort you did to raise it from a young age and then letting it fly, it must have been a truly emotional experience. I loved hearing that you also saved a life. ♥️
Thank you, Alvaro. I think your parrot was an escaped domestic pet while my "baby" was wild. I used to work with a couple of wildlife rescue/refuges, so the ethic, though hard to swallow sometimes, is to keep the wild wild. I congratulate you on your skill and compassion. No wonder he enjoys hanging out with you.
I don't know if it's a domestic pet, maybe it could be, although I don't think so because it's an invasive species in Spain and the law prohibits selling and reproducing it.
You can't find it in any pet store and in fact, when I go to buy food for it I have to say that I have another type of bird hahaha.
Maybe it was illegal trade in exotic birds, I don't know. In any case, it lives well with me, which is the most important thing. It shouldn't be in the ecosystem because it's an invasive species and it has found a refuge in my house.
I wonder if it's the kind of parrot that migrates and it wandered off course. Some birds do that and end up in trouble. Your little friend was one of the lucky ones.

luv it! thanks, alvaro! what a nice friend to have with you.
Yes, Curro is great company. In fact, every letter I write has him by my side; I never write alone.
Good story!
Thank you David! My parrot is happy to know that you liked the story too! Hahaha.
